Further to our previous communication, the spread of COVID-19 across Europe and Africa is having a significant impact on our lives, like how we interact with others or introducing new ways of working.
AFR-IX telecom is committed to continue delivering industry best services during this rapidly evolving situation. In Africa, the virus has spread to dozens of countries within weeks, so it is essential to maintain the quality of service or our networks, thereby ensuring essential connectivity and communications services. Our employees, customers and partners’ wellbeing and safety is our priority as it is the quality of our network.
COVID-19 is already having an impact on our services and our network traffic has been increased over 15% in the last 15 days. AFR-IX telecom expects this trend of data growth to continue in the following weeks. As mentioned in the previous communication, AFR-IX telecom operations teams have confirmed they have reviewed their contingency plans with an emphasis on ensuring adequate attendance to site to maintain critical services. This includes what we already knew:
  • NOC
Our Network Operations Center (NOC) is able to monitor the health of our Network 24/7 and will continue like this.
  • Service Delivery
Our capacity at each site and global footprint allow us to continue to deliver services, as long as local authorities allow this.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further guidance to this evolving situation as necessary. We really appreciate your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.
If you have any further questions, please contact us.
With kind regards
